There seems to be a bit of a problem with the "delete" operation on my artist's page. I uploaded a couple of improved images, but can't remove the two old versions from the gallery via the edit function. I got someone else a bit more clued up to try for me, and they couldn't either. Could someone check this, please? Is this so for everyone, or just me?

Which images are you trying to delete, Gillian? And how are you doing it? It should be as simple as:
    Edit page
Click 'Add an image' (the button name is misleading, because all image operations are here, not just adding - I should change this)
Click 'Gallery (x)' where x is the number of images you currently have in your gallery
Click 'Show' next to the image you want to delete
all sorts of buttons and text fields appear - one of the last buttons is 'insert into post' - next to this is DELETE.
You'll be asked whether you're sure you want to delete the image - 'you are about to delete xxx.jpg - continue or cancel' - click CONTINUE
The image should be gone. It's deleted from your gallery, and also from the server, so if you delete the wrong one, you'll have to upload it again.

That is exactly the procedure I used! The Continue button developed a red background, but nothing more happened when I clicked it. I will try again. Watch this space!

5 mins later ... nope - still there - it's the last two I'm trying to get rid of.

Weird - it's working fine for me, so I've just deleted your last two images for you (Fall and Kingfisher). I'm using Firefox, but I just checked and it's also working fine for me in Internet Explorer 7. Is your javascript up to date? You obviously have it enabled, or else you wouldn't see the 'add an image' button in the first place, but since the continue button uses it as well, I'm wondering whether it's using code that your version doesn't understand, although that shouldn't be the case, it's not particularly complicated script.

Thanks Simon - it was getting extremely frustrating! I use Firefox too - haven't tried via Internet Explorer 8, but will try that once I've dealt with the gallery's requirements - I don't want all those images there for ever so once they've had a look I'll try taking some off to reduce them down to a more reasonable number.

I did once have a problem with Firefox on another site, and they suggested using IE instead - I wonder if I have a setting that isn't allowing something to happen.

    Java is version 6 (15) - I haven't noticed a problem with it, but then ...

STILL not able to delete unwanted images - uploading, adding news etc. no problem - just can't get rid of things! Tried IE and checked Java - no difference. Any more ideas, anyone? (EVEN went back and read help page AGAIN!)(that got typed as "helf" - think we're back to the "help an elf" scenario).

Try it now, Gillian - I've rewritten some of the code involving core permissions, and as far as I can see there should be nothing at all to stop you from deleting anything that belongs to you. Apologies for the trouble.

Well, halfway there! I can now delete unwanted pictures, but the revised page has only uploaded to the cymraeg version - my english page now has NO images! (It says it is only available in cymraeg.)
