Not good on computers? Come to our Helfa Gelf Application Surgery on Monday 20^th February and get one on one help with our on-line application form. Just bring a memory stick containing images of your work and a current CV.

This project has received funding through the Rural Development Plan for Wales 2007-2013 which is funded by the Welsh Government and the European Agricultural fund for Rural Development

Aim of workshop:

Learn the basic skills and equipment needed by artists to produce a short (approx. 2 mins) promotional video about their work and studio. This film can then be uploaded to the Helfa Gelf website, You Tube, Vimeo etc.

Seminar Structure:

• A brief introduction to promotional filmmaking - how to tell a story through the medium of film/still images and the importance and use of sound/voiceover.
• Coffee break
• Practical, hands-on experience of filming a studio environment using the information learned in the morning session.
• Lunch (provided)
• Creating a soundtrack and/or voiceover
• Break
• Editing the source material and getting your film online.

Please bring: 

A digital camera of any sort – mobile phone cameras are OK
(Also any required connecting and power cables for your camera.)

A laptop.

12 still images of your own studio – please leave these on your camera/mobile phone if possible. USB drive or CD otherwise

Your artists statement – single A4 sheet max.

We will also show you how to compress image files so you can e-mail them easily.

A one day professional development seminar on the 18th June 2011 covering the topics of:

1. Morning Session (11am -12.30pm):
Exhibition Planning and hanging
Introduction and insight into installation. How to plan, lay-out and hang an exhibition. Participants will be given a tour of the current Mostyn Open Exhibition by way of explanation.

Speaker/s: Tour by Wendy Couling, and Talk by Sian Green. 

12.30pm-1.30pm Coffee, Tea

2. Afternoon session (1.30pm -3pm):
How to present work to galleries
Introduction on how to approach galleries, curators and how your work should be presented. Insight into selection of work by galleries and advice on everything from framing to pricing for visual, applied, performance, film, sound and digital artists. How to present work through photographs, websites etc.
